April 24, 2019 Dear Ms. Ann Lee, This is ---’s father. Hope you still remember your student more than 8 years ago. I am reaching out to update her status with our sincere gratitude. Time does fly! It was 8 years ago that --- was celebrating the admission of MIT, and this May she will graduate from Harvard Medical School with a Medical Doctor Degree and start her residency in internal medicine and oncology. We want to thank you again for laying a solid foundation during 3-years counseling. --- has been pursuing her dreams by studying hard, planning ahead and working effectively, all on her own. We feel so grateful and lucky to have you as a counselor at her early stage of the development to make profound impact on her through a good education. All of this started with one of your seminar a decade ago. After the seminar and much of own research, we realized that the top notch colleges had very higher expectations for extracurricular activities, much more than top grades alone, especially for Asian students. We interviewed many college counselors; we were convinced by your extensive knowledge and sincere desire to help students. In the next three years, under your passionate guidance, my daughter not only fully understood the keys to getting to top colleges; but also gained much personal development, clarity in her future educational and career pursuits. During this period, you turned her horseback riding hobby into a participation of an Equine Riding Club for Children’s mental development and developed her leadership skills and talents by composing and producing her own music CD. You also guided her taking initiative to seek internship opportunities by landing positions at three top universities throughout three summers. During this process, she learned many valuable skills; taking opportunities into her own hands, writing her personal statement and gaining interview skills. Most importantly, she nurtured her inner spirit to help society and apathy. These fundamental skills and ethics led her achievements later in MIT and Harvard Medical School. I am pretty sure that she has more to celebrate in the future. Looking back, we strongly believed that the good counseling is about more than just college admissions; it's about developing confidence and lifelong skills. The competition to top colleges seems much fiercer nowadays. We know that you would help lucky few students to achieve more than they can on their own. Thank you again. Please feel free to share our experience with your other students and parents. I am more than happy to give a reference, if needed. Sincerely, ---
We'd love to answer any questions you may have.
